Who We Are

The Indy CERT Alumni Association is a 501(c)(3), non-profit and non-member organization comprised of seven board members of current and former participating Marion County Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) volunteers in Marion County, Indiana. Established in June of 2012, our mission is to seek out monetary and in-kind donation grants to support the needs and focus areas of the Marion County CERT organization. 

Focus Areas

As a part of the Federal Emergency Management Agency's (FEMA) national CERT program, Marion County CERT's mission is to promote disaster resiliency through preparedness, response, and recovery by incorporating best practices and sharing resources to empower trained CERT volunteers in Marion County and the city of Indianapolis. All grants and funding/donations received by the Indy CERT Alumni Association goes towards supporting Marion County CERT's disaster response/preparedness, training and community outreach capabilities.

Preparedness & Response

Marion County CERT volunteers are trained to perform basic disaster preparedness & response skills, some of which include:

  • Fire safety

  • Light search and rescue

  • Team organization

  • Basic first aid/medical operations

Consistent Training

In order to ensure Marion County CERT volunteers are capable of performing their disaster response duties adequately and efficiently, volunteers are provided consistent training opportunities designed to support first responders in Marion County & the city of Indianapolis.

Community Outreach

Marion County CERT is always looking for opportunities to educate the public about disaster preparedness. Whether its tabling at community functions or providing traffic & medical management at events, Marion County CERT is dedicated to keeping its community informed so it can stay safe.
